Translation Rates

In general, the cost of a translation is calculated on the basis of text length, measured in standard lines (55 characters incl. spaces), words or standard pages.

My regular fee for translations from English into German is € 0.15 per source word.

However, the actual fee for a particular translation contract may be higher, depending on factors such as

  • delivery deadlines: a rush charge of up to 50% may be applied for unusually fast turnaround requests and for weekend work
  • file format: for translating from .ppt, .xml, .html, .jpg, .pdf files or similar, I add a surcharge of at least 10%. Please provide me with your files in Word format if possible.
  • complexity of the subject matter

All the prices quoted on this page are intended for corporate customers and are calculated without statutory German VAT at the current rate of 19%.

Rates for Certified Translations

Certified translations will be charged according to the German Legal Remuneration and Compensation Act (JVEG) at a rate of € 1.95 per standard line (55 characters incl. spaces, based on the target text).

Additional copies of the translation ordered together with the original translation will cost  5.00.

As certified translations are generally required by private customers, all the prices shown on this page include statutory German VAT at the current rate of 19%.
